The conversation window , the Webcam and Audio buttons are now renamed to Video & Voice and the Video button also has a new symbol. A completely new feature we announced before are the Voice Clips , which enable you to send voice messages (or whatever you sample, really) by holding the button (or hold F2) and recording through your microphone. Yelling your contact’s name sounds like a good alternative to the Nudge button. Obviously, this feature only works if both contacts own MSN Messenger 7.5 .Bloat-alert: just like MSN Display Pictures , conversation window backgrounds can now be dynamic. While I have yet to see it in action, I can imagine many an epilepsy seizure caused by these Dynamic Backgrounds . I don’t think anyone was waiting for this feature, but according to KebecoiS : ” the animation is more pleasant [than Winks], the text color matches it so you can still see it clearly and it’s not just annoying “. Two Dynamic Backgrounds from Blue Mountain are included in this BETA. One has a fish swimming , the other shows world clocks (though according to Mini-Me the times shown on the clocks are not accurate, screenshot by sinuz ).

Winks: Winks allow you to send kisses, hearts and all sorts of silly cartoons to your contacts.

Nudge : Nudge allows you to send a “shake” to your contact. Both your own and your contacts MSN Messenger window will shake, much like how Internet Explorer windows shake using the correct javascript.

Download packs : Download packs will allow users to grab winks/emoticons/display pictures and backgrounds straight from MSN. As these currently don’t work we were unable to test them.

Games : Chess Club, Bankshot Billiards Club are included if you’re a Instant Games Clubhouse member. Standard Checkers/Solitaire Showdown/Bejeweled/Minesweeper Flags and Tic Tac Toe are still included.

Activities : Activities allow you to share files, calendars, photos and perform tasks such as remote assistance.

Deluxe Display Pictures : Although these are unavailable it seems like MSN are going to supply animated display pictures.

Enabling the personal message to tell contacts what you are listening to currently (tick the option) will change your personal message to reflect the current mp3 you are listening to. Interestingly, when tested with a music video file in the current playlist the personal message is blanked out while the video file is being played. MP3 files listed in the playlist following the video file will continue to update the personal message.

You now have the option in your conversation windows to click on a link to bluemountain to search for new backgrounds and emoticons. This seems to be something of a coup on bluemountain’s part as it is sure to generate a lot of additional traffic to their site. Additionally, there is an option in the conversation windows to type in an item to search for. Clicking on search heads to msn’s search portal and returns the results to the person you are conversing with.

Noroom’s ListManager is a program that will allow users to edit their MSN Messenger lists. With an easy-to-use GUI, the user is given the power to view all the entries in their Allow, Block, Contact and Reverse lists. The program gives the user the ability to modify these lists to the point that they only contain contacts the user wants to have.

It also includes an option to automatically scan for useless entries in the Allow, Block and Contact lists, and remove them with a few clicks.

Running this program on your account will not only give you more space to add people to your lists, but it will also make the process of signing in faster than usual, as the information that the MSN Messenger client has to download will be reduced to a minimum.
